My Dad is a VP of a very successful large corporate company. He has always worked ridiculously hard to provide for his family, but that sacrifice has not come without cost. A few years ago the doctors told him he was pre-diabetic. He didn't really do anything about it so now he is full diabetic, on tons of prescriptions, has an unstable blood sugar reading everyday, high blood pressure and the list goes on. He has tried diets, supplements, fads and more only to end up in the exact same spot or even worse.
7 years ago I was on the same path. I worked 50+ hours/week in the restaurant business. Long nights and early mornings. Lots of fries and peanut butter pie for dinner. Wine and cigarettes were my friends and necessary for relieving stress. I was overweight and unhappy. One day I took a look in the mirror and said ~ NO WAY! I quit my job and got certified as a personal trainer. Doesn't make much sense I know. I just knew I wanted to be healthy and to help others. My journey has included many certifications, P.T, TRX, SPIN, Silver Sneakers, Step, Pilates. I even competed in a fitness competition. I became obsessed with helping others get fit, however there was one problem, their results never lasted. I turned to nutrition education. What I learned blew me away. I have spent the last 6 years devoting my time to learning about the link between nutrition and disease and while I don't claim to know it all, I certainly have come a long way. I look and feel better than I did 10 years ago. And now the time has come for me to help my Dad. Please follow the journey with us. Offer encouragement, motivation, education, and suggestions. Negativity will not be tolerated. "For as a man thinketh in his heart, so he is."
